Just finished the 1/48 scale Hasegawa AH-64D Apache Longbow J.G.S.D.F. Have a look. Comments welcome.

Nice looking Apache. I have this kit in my stash, but i probably won't build it for a while. So many small fragile pecies...

Outstanding build! I really like it!

The camo looks great... masking all those irregular surfaces looks like it would be tough.

How did you paint the screens in the cockpit? I really like the way they turned out.

Thanks for the comments. The screens were painted with Tamiya acrylic clear blue. The buttons were done with a white drawing pencil. I found this to be an easy alternative to dry brushing. I just rub the pencil over the raised buttons just like you would if you were dry brushing. It's really easy and fast.

First off John, truly a nice build over all.. It is nice to see a change in pace.. It's not everyday someone builds an Apache in the JGSDFs colour scheme.

I have the Longbow as well as the regular version in my stash and wanted to know how is the over all build in general.. Anything to look out for, fits issues and the like..

Actually the build was really enjoyable. No real fit issues. The cockpit didn't have a lot of detail but came out pretty well with a little detailing. There are a lot of small parts that are best kept off until the painting is done. The real challenge was the three tone camoflage especially the black edge outlines. Each one was a separate mask so it took some time but makes for a very different look. The kit actually came with a small set of photoetched external parts that I completely forgot about until I was nearly complete. I like adding photoetch but I'm not sure they would have added much here.
