Thank's for the link Ray .

I did do a bit of a search around the Helicopter Forum pages for facts and images on the Australian Naval Huey's .

If I remember correctly there is quite a bit of info in the Topic Aaronw started on the UH-1E from a F+B or C .

Lot's of info on which UH-1B's had Bell Mouth intakes and others that were fitted with particle seperators .

It does appear that the bracket holding the Aux fuel tank extends a lot higher than the standard weapons rack style bracket ; So I guess I'll have to modify one to suit .

Although I'm yet to find a nice close up pic of a Aux tank arrangement .

I was thinking of taking a quick trip down the coast to the Naval Museum and take some pic's of the Huey [despite the lack of proper indoor lighting] but as I'm a carer for my elderly parents I will need to arrange respite care for a few hours .

Anyway thank's again for the help with my resin parts order from CC , I've been getting mail delivery failure notifications coming through the inbox , so I'm not sure what happened there all last week ; I've sent a whole stack of email's through again making sure I have the email address correct each time .

My mistake ; the RAN Huey info was in the link you posted Ray ;

I guess I've been going through so many threads lately I forget where I've read different things Confused [%-)]

John,

Check this page. It might help.  There's another thread here somewhere on RAN Hueys, but I can't locate it at the moment.

If you are modeling one that flew in Vietnam it had the armoured seats!  One of the pictures by Helo53 clearly shows the side armour plate in the door window.

Clear Left!

Thanks, those are a nice reference. The RAN blue & white helos look particularly interesting.

My brother had these four photo's in his album , he kindly gave them to me , so I thought I would share the pic's here as well .

I'm pretty sure it's the same RAN Huey from the pic I posted earlier

I have also noticed that the RAN Huey doesn't have armor protected seats , so I'll use some of the unarmored seats from  the Revell UH-1D kits I bought to use for spare parts .

I also like the photo my brother took of the UH-1B rotor head Thumbs Up [tup]

I did find one single photo in my small collection of Australian Helicopters .

It was taken in 1996 at HMAS Albratros , Nowra . The Naval Air Station is about 1.5 hour's south of Sydney . the photo was taken with a pocket 35mm camera , hence the poor quality .

I wish I had taken more pic's of this bird , especially around the rescue hoist and aux tank , I never even thought about walk-around pic's back then Banged Head [banghead]

I was once a regular visiter to the museum where a few aircraft and helicopter's are on display but when the museum became privately run a few years ago , the new owners policy was to have very little lighting inside the hanger and it's almost impossible to take a decent photo of anything . So I stop going .

Look's like someone swaped the cabin door from "898" and put it on "897" Whistling [:-^]

Interesting, it looks like those are just for your market. I'll occasionally find a kit like that on ebay with something special thrown in for Canada. I guess they don't think the rest of us would be interested in Kangaroos or Maple Leaves.

If you get a chance would you mind posting a pic of just the decals / color sheet from those two? It would be a handy reference if I ever get to building some Australian hueys and I doubt I'll find those versions in the US.

I found these two pic's while searching around goggle images

I will build my RAAF Huey as in the pic with the Bell-mouth engine intake and I have a couple of spare M60's to arm the Huey .

I bought two 1/72 Hobbyboss Aussie Huey kits

I picked up these two Hobbyboss UH-1B kits today .

The kits include decals for the RAAF and RAN Huey's

I scrounged around the spare's box for an additional auxiliary fuel tank and support bracket for the Navy bird . I'll also modify the rescue hoist to suit the UH-1B

I also have this pic from my aircraft magazine's

The only pic I have of an RAAF UH-1B was this one ,

I'm not sure if I should change the Bell-Mouth intake for the later style screened particle seperator ; I have a Hobbyboss UH-1C Huey kit in my stash .

I have had a bit of a search around FSM Forum pages looking for some RAAF UH-1B's images but haven't come across any as yet , so I'll keep looking .

Anyway I'll add these two birds to my current Huey Builds I have going on the bench .
