USCG S-62
Posted by stevebagley on Monday, November 9, 2009 11:10 AM

At the recent IPMS Netherlands show I was asked by a German modeller if I could help him with information  regarding the US Coastguard S-62  He has been wanting for some years to build one , either from scratch , conversion or kit . All he has is a small general arrangement drawing . Its not my field of knowledge . Can anyone help me with details of any kits or drawings or of a forum or interest group I could refer him to . Your help would be appreciated .

The HH-52A is sort of a hybrid of the H-19 Chocktaw and SH-3 Seaking but it will require a huge amount of scratchbuilding. It is one of my someday I'll have enough time, information and skill to do it builds.

The main and tail rotors came from the H-19, the fuselage is sort of a smaller single engine Seaking.

Schiffer has a good book on the HH-52A, it also has some info on the other versions of the S-62. The book has a ton of info on the helicopter and is not very expensive, lots of photos but unfortunately no highly detailed engineering diagrams.

Hasigawa has an EXCELLENT seaking in 48th, that could probably be a great starting point. Some modifications would be in order, but, it's a good place to start.

I have the templates I created for the various frames for the fuselage and sponsons. PM me and I will give contact details so that I can pass on any information required.
