UH-1C Huey Hog
Posted by Anonymous on Sunday, December 28, 2003 8:38 PM
My name is Shane and I recently purchased a 1/48 scale UH-1C Huey Hog kit, This is the helo that has the 40mm grenade launcher on the nose, twin 60's, and the M-200A-1 rocket pod on each side. I have been searching for 3 days straight for pics and info on this helo, but all I find are info on the UH-1C Seawolf varient which was used by the Navy Seals, and doesn't have the loadout the Huey Hog had.
Can someone please help point me in the right direction, as I am very excited to start working on it. Thank you for your help.

Here's some links where you may find reference material on the C Model HOG.
.......

http://www.rattler-firebird.org/
http://incolor.inetnebr.com/iceman/
http://www.vhpamuseum.org/
http://www.187thahc.net/
http://gunsagogo.org/0009/aindex.htm

Many of these sites have very good photographic galleries which contain detailed reference material for your project.... good luck!

Also.... The Cobra Company carries a resin upgrade/detail set for that kit you might want to look into.

Hi shane

here is some info copied from another site re the huey hog.

The weapons set on the Monogram Huey Hog is not correct for the Marine decals that come in the kit. USMC was a completely different type of pod/twin-60 set-up. Also doubt any Marine birds ever carried the 40mm thumper - some had a twin 60 turret. Go to popasmoke.com - there are some pictures there.

Also, if it is a Marine bird, it would be a UH-1E. Don't know how many B/C models they flew. The twin '60 turret in the nose was definitely a cool looking mod!
