First Build Of 2010 Revell 1/48 CH-53 GS/G

I still haven't started the "Zulu" kit. Yours looks great. I know you hd to scrounge fro decals (the "Marines" should be "low Vis). still looks great. Maybe Tamigawa will come out with it and the "new" Huey the Marines are using! I have looked and noted that the two tone Grey is correct on my color sheets. Don't know if they updated it(?). I have 3 "snakes" to build AH-1S, W and Z. should be fun. I love putting Sidewinders on a helo though!. Thanks for the info. I will double check b4 painting!

The correct topside color is FS35237 Blue Gray. The rest of the fuselage is FS36375 Lt Ghost Gray. This is the current "Tactical" color scheme for all USMC helos.

I have heard great things about the Hobby Boss kits. I am pretty sure it was the Older version. The problem fit was where the "green house" windows and fusilage meet. Not to mention I was attemptine to do the newer version with the rear window armored or closed off. Still working on the putty and sanding technique.

I will be interested to see how the "Zulu" goes togther. It is one of the Kitech Kits. Looking at the parts on the sprue it all looks ok (no sink, injector marks, mix of raised and recessed detail). So far it is the only Zulu version available. I look forward to building it. Good mix of kits: Older Fujimi, Tamiya, and Kitech. May attempt a triple build!

I'm interested to see how the Revell 1/48 CH-53GS/G goes together , I've been thinking of buying this kit for a while now ???

I'm not sure if Travis [STFD637] has the 1/48 or 1/72 scale Zulu , The decals in my kit were to big for the '72 scale bird , so I had to scrounge around for suitable markings . the paint instructions are also incorrect as it calls for the top fuselage section to be FS.36440 , it probably should be 36370 .

According to Squadron AH-1 Cobra in action book , the Kitech kit is the AH-1-4BW prototype version .

  Interesting comment about the Kiowa.  was it the OH-58D or OH-58A?  I recently built the OH-58A and it went together great.  The only problem was the greenhouse window, but it was fixable.  If you are looking for a quick easy helo build, get one of the new Hobby Boss kits.  I just finished their UH-1B and AH-1S kits.  Heck you could just take the pieces of the sprues and shake the box, it would probably fall together.  The Huey has kinda heavy details, but the Cobra is great so long a you realize it is actually an AH-1F and not and AH-1S.  Incidentally the AH-1F is actually an AH-1E.  Good luck with your next one!

Shoot, I didn't even know Revell made a 1/48 CH-53! Is this the older Jolly Green? Sounds like a great kit. I love helos but am very reluctant to do them after the 1/72 Itilera Kiowa. What a PIG. The clear part didn't fit lots of work. I am still not happy with the end result. Maybe I will try again soon. I gave 3 different Cobras in the stash (AH-1 Army, AH-1W, and AH-1Z the newest one!). Can't wait to see the pics.
