Very nice. Did you use any detail sets or is the kit designed to have a fold up option as well. (I should look at mine again since I have this kit in the stash). You went to town on the details. Just simply amazing helo.
Thanks for sharing.

USCUSN.
If you have the Hasegawa or Revell AG kit. It gives you the option to build the rotor either way.
And ALLAN. Very nice!!!!!

Superb finish and I especially like the subtle panel lines. I have the same kit that I dare not approach because I am afraid I would mess it up. You give me courage!

Allan, what did you use to rig down the prop blades? It looks like fine thread. How'd you get that little triangle at the top? Good job, man!

Thank you guys! Am glad you liked it.

Chuck,
Randie's right. The kit has the fold-up option. The tail is molded separately so you can fold it as well. However, you would have to cut plastic card for the interior detail of the tail boom. I didnt use any detail sets on this. The details were made from scratch.

Shamrage,
Thanks! I followed my wife around picking up fallen hair. Seriously! I first used fine wire to make those "triangles" you see attached to the blade. I attached the hair strand to the "triangle" and inserted the other end to a copper wire ring I attached to the tail wheel strut and pulled the blades down before making a knot.

Sure do!! Just picked up a Hasegawa 1/48 A-7E the other day in Chippy markings. ( Hi, my name is Calvin and I'm a holic!! ) Yeah, it's pretty much my favorite place to shop. The Starbuck's a block away helps, too! :)

Hey there, Calvin.

Maybe I should pay a visit to Parco, then. Maybe pick up something (you know how we modelers are Wink [;)]). LOL. Unfortunately, Starbucks isnt quite as close as the local Parco, so my caramel machiatto will have to wait. Smile [:)]

Hey Allan, all I see is a box that says "remote linking forbidden" . I have a 50megs account also, so this does not suprise me. I moved some of my pics to www.photobucket.com, & have never had a problem. Can you post a url of your site so that I can see the pics? I have one of these kits in the stash, & got to take a tour of a Spanish Navy SH-3G when I was in Kuwait last year.

thanks.

Hey there, Chris.

I actually posted the pics from our club site: http://ipms-phils.50megs.com. The site is currently undergoing maintenance and some links were affected. But the webmaster is working on it. I can send you the pics by email if you want. Thanks!

Allan, that is a gorgeous bird!!! I worked on the CH-53E in the Marine Corps, and since have been intrigued by "Sikorsky"....I'm a little intimidated to try a helo, but I think I may have to go out and pick one up!!! Thanks for sharing!!

Hey, allan! Why didn't i see this thread sooner?!? Man, that's fine work you've done... again (why does this not surprise me Smile [:)])!

I've had bad experiences with rotary wing stuff (mostly involving the fact that the rotor blades just come off), so I haven't built a chopper in quite a while... If i do, however, i think having it folded up like that is the way to go!

Also, i was browsing though the ipms page, and was that you i saw taking home that Bismark?? Sweet! Wink [;)]

Kik36,

Thanks! I build mostly planes and armor, but helos have a special place in my heart. They also have a lot of potential model wise. I hope to see a helo from you soon. Btw, Ive been wanting to build a CH-53 but I havent mustered enough courage to begin tackling the interior. Id probably build it with folded rotors too to save on space. Wink [;)]Smile [:)]

Pareng Shrikes,

Salamat (Thanks)! Folding the rotors present two distinct advantages in that it makes the model look more dramatic and it saves on a lot of shelf space. Big Smile [:D]

As for the Bismarck, hehehe! I was never lucky in raffles and stuff so I was stunned I got that baby. I was feeling so generous I gave away the other prizes I got. Big Smile [:D] But I havent touched it, though. Its still wrapped in plastic and Im still just staring at it from across the room. One of these days, after I have gotten Zen lessons, I shall tear off the packaging and begin. Wink [;)]

Btw, hows your thesis going along?
