Academy CH-53
Posted by PontiacRich on Monday, January 25, 2010 3:51 PM

Hey folks,

I just scored the 1:48 Academy CH-53(US Marines) on ebay for $31! Big Smile  I'm wondering what detail sets are available for this kit, and of those, what would be considered "must have" vs. "nice to have"?  Also, if it builds just fine by itself, let me know that as well!  I'm unemployed and spending needs to be kept small!

Thanks all!

Eduard produces some nice stuff for it. I scored mine at Sprue Brothers. Just do a search on CH-53. Which reminds me, yet another project to get cracking on again.

Thanks Hawk!

I think I'm thinking of getting the cockpit instrument set and the masks.  I'd like to get the exterior set as well, but I've got money issues.  Do you know how good the kit screens are?

Thanks again!

The kit instrument panel is pretty good.. Raised detail, and it looks accurate. I think there is even a decal on the sheet for it. If you are going to skimp anywhere skimp there on aftermarket.

I would get the masks though.. The nose glass would be a pain to mask by hand.

Excuse me.. Is that an Uzi?
