Posted by Scotty T on Friday, April 30, 2010 6:01 AM

Just curious if anyone has done any of the Dragon 1/144 2+ H-60 series helicopters?  Does anybody know of any 1/144 scale H-53 helos, I am hoping after Dragon makes every varient of the Hawk they will start with the H-53 series.  Thanks all for the input.

I have done several of the H-60's.  What do you want to know about the kits?

Revell makes a HH-53C in 1:144 scale.

Those H-60 molds are probably 10  to 12  years old already.   They lived their first life under the DML brand.    I don't think that Dragon will be making any new molds.  Most of what they seem to be doing is new decals on existing kits.

You want something different,  check the H-3 series from Sweet Models in 1:144.   I'm working Marine One right now

While I havnt built dragons 144 H-60's (yet) I have some in my stash, I can tell you compared to most 144 scale they are well detailed inside and out (seats, seatbelts, cockpit controls etc all cleanly molded), with no deformed blobs for pilots.

Biggest problem is that the floor in the cargo area does not fit flush if the doors are left open; OK if closed.  It is not too hard to replace cargo floor with sheet plastic, if you do not mind losing the troop seats.  I bought a Heller E-2 on sale from Squadron for $6 a few months back to get some pilot figures.  Preiser has some 1/144 NATO pilot/ground crew  figures that are really nice that provide a few poses that can be made to pass for seated pilots, though most of the figures are standing, squatting and who knows what for some.  Overall, the H-60s are very nice with some clean, crisp detail and make for a quick build.  And two per box--what a deal!

Thanks everyone for the responses.  I am currently working on the HH-60H/SH-60F.  Seems to go together pretty well indeed.  I had no idea they were old molds.  I do a have a few in my stash as well.  I have build the Revell HH-53C and the Sweet H-3's look nice as well, I am happy they have the LA Sherrif as well as Marine One as well.  Thank you all again for the responses
