Aaron, Thanks for the comments,, I just want a representative model, I know its heresy on here,,but I'm not a 'nuts and bolts' modeler so the difference in the tail boom should be Ok with me,,I looked at pics of the USMC version and now that you brought it up,,I see the difference,,but didn't before.

If you want to get rid of the decals please let me know..and what you want for them.. I definitly would like the set.

again Thanks for the info!! I really appreciate it!

sorry for not replying sooner,,was away for a bit.

Kevin

I just realized, if you have both USAF kits that means you have the correct straight tail boom for a USMC helicopter with the UH-19A kit (the pontoon equipped one). I'm not positive that the USAF had UH-19Bs with pontoons but I think that is safe to say they did. The UH-19A can also be built with wheels if you don't want to do one with pontoons.

Never mind I just re-read your post and I think you just meant the UH-19B has decals for 2 USAF helicopters.

Ok, it's the UH-19B kit, that version has a bent tail boom.

The USAF had some issues with rotors striking the tail boom so on later versions they added a slight droop in the tail boom. The Army used a similar version, but I don't think the USN, USMC or USCG ever did.

It is a fairly minor difference but to build a completely accurate USMC UH-19 I think you are going to need a different kit. The other kit is currently listed as an HO4S-3 which was the Navy name for the H-19, that is the kit with a Canadian helicopter on the box.

I have built several of those kits so have spare USMC decals, if you want a set.

Which boxing of the kit do you have? The last one I bought (Canadian Navy helicopter on the box) included a set of Korean war USMC decals along with the Canadian and (I believe) French markings for a helicopter in Algeria.

I just picked up the Italeri H-34 and H-19 kits,,Looking for a set of 1/72 scale USMC decals for the H-19.

Anyone know of a source?

Short of buying anither H-34 kit and modifying the decals?

Thanks!!
