SH-60 and AGM-119 pictures
Posted by paintsniffer on Sunday, October 3, 2010 3:27 PM

I have been on a Helicopter kick lately and I am currently working on a couple 1/48 Seahawks. Anyway. I have aquired an AGM-119 missile. I know the Seahawks used to be rated to carry these, and I don't think it is something many people show (probably because it was rarely done).

I have done a google image search and now know just enough to know the Penguin needs a funny looking hardpoint mounted. However, I can only find side views (small ones at that). Anyone know or have any pictures looking head-on at a Seahawk with the missile, or just the pylon mounted?

Excuse me.. Is that an Uzi?

Here are a few I found on the web. Sorry none are exactly head on.  Be sure to click them to get the large versions.  HTH

You're welcome.  Please post your build when you get started.  I found those images using Google by searching "AGM-119" and "AGM-119 SH-60B"  You might want to try yourself as there may be more images you can use there.

OK.. Next question... Are the fins on the Penguin always folded on the ground? Is there some mechanism for deploying them in flight? I was planning on making my Seahawk a shelf sitter and I really didn't want to mess with cutting and folding the fins on the missile.

Excuse me.. Is that an Uzi?

It would appear that if you are building an older Mk2 version of the AGM-119, the fins would not be folded.  However, I don't have any photos showing that weapon on a Seahawk.  The newer Mk2 Mod7 has the folding wings and is the weapon used on all the birds in the above photos I believe.
