Helicopter Research
Posted by mastercarp on Thursday, March 6, 2003 6:59 PM
Hi all,

I'm wanting to do a pseudo diorama for a friend of mine. He was in the 1st Cavalry Division(Air Mobile) during Vietnam. He was a helicopter crew chief. I'm wanting to do a about 6 helicopters from that time period and hopefully from the 1st Cav. as well. I did some research and found these:

OH-13E Sioux
UH-1B Iroquois
AH-64 Apache (not during vietnam, but 1st cav. has them)
CH-47 Chinook
UH-1 Huey
UH-1N Twin Huey

All of these are 1/72 scale and from Italeri. The major problem that I'm having is finding research to accurately paint and decal these models. I would also like to use 1st Cav. markings if possible.
If anyone could give me suggestions as to where to find books that would be great.

Thanks
MC

Try the links below. If they do not work try Google, ask jeeves or try a search engine of your choice. Just type 1st cav

Mastercarp,

What, no Cobras? LOL
The 1st Cav had four Cobra units during Vietnam. I'm just finishing my fourth in 1/32 scale. Some great markings too...
