Thanks for the help guys and thank you Pawel for the idea. I had some of that tape in the tool box, broke it out and heres what I came up with. Not perfect but it will do.

And a finished picture of my first helo build

Hello!

I never had to paint the ALQ-144, because they weren't there in Vietnam, byt I wondered many times what I would do if I had to. Some kind of prismatic paint would probably hack it. But a cheaper alternative would be to use adhesive-backed foil - in Poland a chain of gas stations used to give little chips of such foil, just the right colour, as loyalty points. Any time they offered 'em to me it brought that IR jammer on my mind - just shows how bad my condition is... Good luck with your build, have a nice day

Paweł

Is it a light/beacon or an AN/ALQ-144 IR countermeasure device?

The AN/ALQ-144 emitter has a cylindrical shape with faceted "windows" which are coated with a purplish-red reflective coating. This is usually mounted directly behind the rotor mast, between the engines.

PS: Not sure but I believe it's not often mounted on the SH-60 and is more commonly seen on the MH-60

I just checked on Prime Portal.net, there's 4 of them on there, not one of them has a light in that area. So, I guess you could just leave it off!

A little help needed Revell SH-60B - Finished it
Posted by vetteman42 on Monday, January 17, 2011 10:19 PM

Guys I am finishing up my first helicopter build and have run into a slight snag. There is what appears to be a light on top behind the main rotor. The part came off of the clear sprue. Anyway I have no idea what color it is, the instructions don't say anything about it and I can find no pictures of the light on line I would assume it would be white because the light on the tail is red. Oh the kit is a Revell 1/48 SH-60B with the Scorpion markings on it.

Thank you in advance for any help with my bonehead problem.
