1/35 coast guard decals?
Posted by Vriez on Thursday, February 3, 2011 5:20 PM

I'm building a Jayhawk for a client from the Academy AH-60 kit.  I feel confident in my abilities to scratchbuild some of the stuff, but I can't find Coast Guard decals for the life of me...   does anyone produce such a thing???

Thanks in advance

Not that I can find.

Hobby Boss & Italeri each offer a kit of one in 1:72 so I'm thinking you'll need to get the kit, scan the decals, enlarge and print them yourself.

Good deal, another big Jayhawk!!!

Fireball Modelworks does USCG MH/HH-60J decals in 1/72, 1/48, and by special order in 1/35.  Just send Joseph an email and he should do them up for you pretty quickly.  He did a set for me when I built my 1/35 USCG MH-60J.  They came out beautifully.  I highly recommend them.

Here are their 1/72 and 1/48th sets.

Here is my USCG MH-60J build as well.

Let me know if you need any help or advice on it.

Perfect!  I'll shoot him an email right now.  Thanks for the help!

Your MH-60J turned out amazing i might add, I might have to "borrow" some of the things I saw in your pictures.

One other real quick question, I'm seeing quite a bit of discussion as to the correct color for the red/orange, whether it be International Orange or Chevy Engine Red.  What did you finally end up using?  I'd prefer Model Master Acryl just because that's what I'm used to using, but am willing to go another route.

Thanks again!

Thanks for the compliments on my Jayhawk.  It was a fun build and I am very satisfied with the outcome.

The orange on Jayhawks is International Orange.  I used Testors Model Master enamel International Orange.  The Chevy Engine Red is best for the HH/MH-65 Dolphins, which are more red/orange.

For the blue stripe on the tail, French Blue is right.  Again, I used Testors Model Master enamel French Blue.

Good luck on yours and keep us posted.
