HeavyArty, thanks a lot for the suggestion. I'm not used to weather helis and I went subtle with it using Tamiya  Weathering Master set A. I'll be taking care of your suggestion with my AB instead.

rotorwash, thanks so much for the link, nice resource there. It has been bookmarked and yes, I have plans for other rotors including a Huey Hog in Desert Storm.

Have a nice day and thanks for looking and commenting.

Nice Snake!  Welcome back to the dark side.   If you are thinking of doing more AH-1F cobras, I'd recommend the Werner's Wings decal set and AM upgrades if you are interested.  You get 15 options and the decals themselves are very nice.

NIce job.  It looks good.  Only thing I would add is a little dust for weathering to blend it all together a little.

Thanks stik! It was kind of reassuring your second reply. So now in the words of Tom Kenny in Spongebob.

ONE WEEKEND LAITER.

A kind tea ball donated its mesh. This is my 1st Heli in over 20 years and loved this build. I'll be getting another one to build the USA version also. I had to deburr the part where the rotor meets the base and as a result, some of the loose plastic ended up in the windshield. Darn static electricity won't let me remove it with air Bang Head

That's all gang, thanks for looking, hope you like it.

I LIKE Field Drab. It is one of the more versatile camo colors out there, and blends well in many terrains and climates. But yes it does look like baby doodie. Your Cobra does not though, and is coming along nicely!Yes

After having my cobra with Sand and ready to start decaling, I decided to go with the Israeli version. I found a new jar of field drab 30118 in my paint stash. It is ready to get the decals on, but I don't know. When I compare it to other models on line, I find this Field Drab kind of different. If I had to name this color I'd name it Baby Poo Brown/Green Big Smile

Is it me? I'm still in time to change that color.

Thanks so much for your prompt response mate. I just have left a bit of Sand from my previous Abrams and Humvee and 2 brand spankin' new bottles of Acryl ARMY/MARINES GULF WAR. So off to my LHS I'll be.

Thanks again!

The US Cobra in Sand will be Sand 33531. The Israeli Cobra is a darker shade of brown, 30118

Bell AH-1F Cobra Colors

Here I am rotor heads, I need your help. After finishing my Phantom GB, I decided to pull from my stash Revell's AH-1F 1/48 Cobra. I have a few sand colors from Acryl and Tamiya at my disposal, but I don't know which would be the proper color. The kit as many of you know comes with USA decals and Israeli. I have yet to decide that one. Are both version the same sand color? That's my only complain with Revell Germany. I know they want to sell their paints, but shoot, it wouldn't hurt to include equivalents.

Looking forward to getting the usual friendly help. Thanks in advance.
