Need some help for a 1/32nd Huskie
Posted by smeagol the vile on Monday, April 18, 2011 3:01 PM

I recently picked up a sealed 1/32nd scale Kaman H-43B Huskie kit.  Its a nice kit and Im gona build it soon but I have two questions.

One would be, how do I fix the seams that go throuhg the raised rivet detail

the second would be where can I find some modern, civilian heli pilots in 1/32nd?

There is no good way keep from loosing detials when filling seams.  You may have to replace some of the rivets.  Archer has rivet sets, or just be carefull and try not to lose too much.  I built the Huskie a long time ago and if I remember correctly, if you are careful, you can seal it up without having to fill and sand, etc. since most of the seams are along natural joint lines.

For pilots, there aren't really any civil sets, nor 1/32 sets.  You can easily convert military pilots by painting their flight suits blue, orange, or some other not-so military a color. You can also paint the survival vests brown or someting to look like a civilian vest.  Here is a thread that lists most of the 1/35th helo pilot sets out there.  It isn't an issue using the 1/35 pilots, the scales are close enough to not matter.

If you are interested, Cobra Company does a really nice interior set for the H-43.  You can check it out here.

Good luck.

Thanks for the links I appreciate it.  The seams didn't seem bad at all, there was only one that was giving me pause when I was looking at it.  This is my first heli, and I got it for 8$ at the flea market so ill lay off the 44$ AM set, heh.

As for the pilots if I can find some Ill buyem, didnt know that civvy uniforms looked the same as military besides color, mostly, but I think I might just build the thing oob

I see you are aware of Cobra's H-43 detail Set.  I have had this kit for years and now have the time to get it built...being a detail nut I was amazed to find a set, but alas Chris has sold out and that's that!  I flew this Pedro a looooong time ago and would like to build a nice model for olde tymes sake.  Do you know any other sources...maybe one of your associates has a set in their stash they would part with.  Much obliged...Michael Davis, Pittsburg Tx, 9038566662/medjkd@gmail.com
