Revell 1/48 Wessex help
Posted by kg4kpg on Sunday, May 8, 2011 3:27 PM

Is there a correction set set for the main landing gear or can someone tell me the correct measurements for the lower part?  It looks like the upper strut will work.

Thanks,

Chris

Chris, Meteor productions made an update set that included cockpit and correct main gear for the Wessex; I picked one up a few years ago before they went out of business.  That does not help you much, but it does exsist, just a matter of finding one someone is willing to part with.  Like finding the Holy Grail, huh?  I'll dig mine out to see if there are any measurements in the instructions that may help out.  Do you have the  ability to make resin copies if someone supplies a master?  Best Regards and good luck!

If you could take a couple close-up shots from different angles I could probably scratch build a set.  I'd like to start casting, just haven't jumped on the supplies yet.  I may try it out after I come back from TDY in July.

Thanks,

Chris

Chris, Good News, I hope!  There is a company in Great Britain that makes an update kit for the Revell Wessex kit, cost is 20 pounds.  It has cockpit and landing gear updates, as well as a set of decals.  They even state they are working on a full kit of the Wessex to be released in the future.  The web site is:  www.heritageaviationmodelsltd.com may be a bit pricey, but it looks to be pretty detailed.  Hope it helps; I may get one myself!!  Doug Burch

Thanks for the info Doug, I may grab one myself.  As for this build, I'll just try to build the gear as this one is about 80% complete.  I sure wish revell would re-visit these old heli kits with some updates.
