14fan,
I built the SH-2F some time ago and it is one of my favorite models. It took a little work but it was worth it. One thing I did was vacuform new doors in clear plastic which gave a more "scale" appearance.
It should be possible to backdate the SH-2F to a UH-2C since most if not all
F models were upgraded A, B, C airframes.
Some of the major differences:
1. UH-2C had three bladed tail rotor. Four bladed tail rotor came with HH-2C gunship
version.
2. SH-2F had an upgraded main rotor (101titanium system). I have no details on the
visual differences. The 2F also had an upgraded transmission.
3. UH-2C may have had single main landing gear wheel as opposed to twin configuration of the later models "beefed up" gear. Tail wheel was located farther aft on
the UH-2C than on the SH-2F.
4. UH-2C did not have 16 tube sonobouy set up on port side like the SH-2F. This needs to be covered up to backdate to a C.
5. Marconi search radar housing needs to be removed from undere the chin of the SH-2F. In addition, some of the lumps and bumps need to be removed from the F nose.
Consult photos of the bird you are modelling.
6.Antennea locations need to be confirmed as some of the ones on the Airfix kit are not
appropriate for the C model.
7. The cabin windows and pitot placement on the Airfix kit appear to be OK for the C model although the port cabin window may have been similar in size to the starboard window in the Airfix kit. The larger port window may have been added to some HH-2C's
but I am not sure about the UH-2C. Consult your photos.
8. UH-2C was used primarily for plane guard duties so the hoist from the Airfix kit should be good.
I have another reference in my catalogue that shows detail information in the IPMS Quarterly V. 19 # 3 which I cannot seem to locate. I'll keep searching and fire off a note if I find more. If I can get my scanner working I'll e-mail some copies.
