Oh man I want some!!

Will you be making the oil stains like it should have because all of our planes leak like an open faucet?

I was a crew chief on CH-46E's and MV-22s I spent way to much of my Life on Navy ships.  Over 1 year of sea time. Lots and lots of hours taking off and landing on those spots!  Id want to add the chains as well.  Very cool

Scratchbuilt 1/48 LHD Deck Display Bases
Posted by Dave Roof on Sunday, July 24, 2011 6:10 PM

Gentlemen,

Here are two display bases that I've made over the past few days. Both are in 1/48 scale and all markings are masked and airbrushed on. Deck has a rough texture to simulate the real deck as well. The tie down rings will be added as soon as I can acquire a set from White Ensign Models.

I'll be making many more over the next few weeks with different designs to cover various parts of the LHD deck, as well as some to represent LHA decks as they were painted differently.

This first deck measures 10 x 13 and is on an 11 x 14 pine base, which has been stained with Minwax Colonial Maple.

The second deck measures 12 x 24 and has been mounted on a piece of MDF board with a pine trim finish. This has since been stained, also with the Minwax Colonial Maple. Again, tie down points will be added once I get the PE set to do so.

Now all I need to do is finish some V-22's, CH-46E's, AH-1W's, UH-1N's, CH-53E's and AV-8B's to put on them!
