I have to say that even though I know the inaccuracies, that is a good looking bird. I am wondering why the chin bubble is painted over, however. Is that creative license or did the clear parts hae issues? Nice job on the base, by the way.

Well, I have almost completed the build. I needto still make a few crates and drums that go on the base.Also the beading that rounds off the "correx" base edges.
It was a fun build, even with all the inacuracies of the kit, but atleast it looks somewhat like a Huey LOL!
I think I need to get the Academy 1/35 Suoer Cobra next.

This is what it looks like sofar. A bit of washing and some tailboom staining.The doors wil be added aswell.
I have started on the helipad construction.
Rotor assembly will be next.
I just love the "Bud" pods! LOL
M200 pods should be OD with bare aluminum ends. Of course, many units painted their rocket pods, but OD was standard.

Almost done! All decals,staining and satin coats completed, just need to do final assembly now.
What would the colour be of the two rocket pods? The instructions here is not to clear about it. It is the round cilyndrical pods. No guns on this model.
I have been "working" the skids(lesson learned about heat and skids!) but I don't think it will be as good as new.The hog will have a weird "sit" to it, but that's just life.I knew this build was going to well!
Got the red on the tail and the black glare pannel on the nose painted on.Will do a bit of a wash on the engine cowlings and he decals tomorrow.

A slight desaster struck when I was trying to "speed dry" the gloss clear coat with a hairdryer before the sun went down and it got to cold. I saw the landing skids have deformed with the heat and the hog looks like it has done a 30G landing, it is now skwatting! RATS!!!!
After the clear dries I will try to rectify it manually, failing that I will aply some heat.Hope I get it right.The heli is starting to look nice.
The red upper surface of the stabilizers is correct. It was used as an identifying feature from above. You can just make out the red on Easy Rider below.
The WWII Willys jeep was no longer in service by Vietnam. The jeep used then was the M151A1.

I put on all the "extras" and cleaned off some seams on the skids I missed.Hoping to get some green on today.
This olive drap issue can realy get confusing with the "right" colour. I will use what ever I have in the paint box that looks "near" and write it foo as "fading" LOL!
Interestingly the paint instructions call for OD all round but on the box cover it shows flat red uppers for the horisontal stabs.
Will post some pix later and when it's done (and good enough) I will start on the "forward base LP"

Here it is.Some more sanding and soon ready for primer.The sanding and filling did needless to say remove some of the rivet detail. Ah well, can't win them all.
Did the Navy Seawolves ever fly with the armament packs removed, or were they permanently fixed???

Thanx Ray, depending on witch door gap is the worst I will close that one up and leave the other one open LOL!
I usually run some thin cement around the edges of the floor and the rear bulkhead after i have the halves glued together. Depending on whether the cabin door will be open or not, you may want to fill the small gap that will be between the cabin floor and the door and touch it up. If you are going to leave the cabin doors closed, that's really not necessary in my opinion. good luck!
Thanx Ray, that sounds like a plan.Do you then tack it in with thin cement or cyno and just touch up the paint?
Lookin' good. I'd recommend leaving the interior "floating" while you glue the halves together. It will find a natural fit. I did that for all my Huey builds and it seems to work.
After "reboxing" the total desaster with the 1/48 Revell UH1c I have started this little 1/72 Italeri UH1c.
I know there are many inacuracies acording to the experts, but I will do this out the box just for fun.
So far the fit is very good with crisp detail.I have however managed to loose the rudder peddals
The cockpit floor assembly is only a dryfit to the fuse for now till I install the windows and do some light paint touchups.Still allot to learn about fine detail painting.
