2 Things.

First, Thats a sexy little Dolphin, top points!Yes

Second, No offense but that ship so UGLY. I assume the lines are are ment to be radar reducing but to my eyes it just looks all wrong. Eitherway though still admire the work and detail you are putting into it. Cool

Guys, thanks for the nice comments, I'm not an aircraft builder. Getting positive comments  from you aircraft builders is a plus! Big Smile

To answer rotorheads question, the 270 model is six feet in length and radio controlled, powered by  twin 12 volt motors.  Here's another pic of the cutter's flight deck, along with the UAV that will be part of the model.

The UAV is scratch built, I had no drawings to work from so I sort of "guesstimated" the prototype size from photographs.  The cutter is about 70% complete its just a matter of doing all the detail work. By the way, there will be a avdet group working on the helo, in 1:48 scale of course!

Wow a 1/48 270'?!!? Are you just doing the helo pad or the whole boat and if so which one? As an MH-60T flight mechanic this piece makes me giddy. Especially seeing "plastic fantastic, tupperwolf, whistling s&%tcan" DOLPHIN everyday. Couple months ago a New Orleans crew was kind enough to give me a lift back in one of those after we broke in the chocks in Pensacola. Had to get back to my pregnant wife. If you ever need some good referance photos give me a buzz and I will set you up. Great Build! Bravo Zulu!

I built this helo kit as part of a larger model project, a 1:48 scale 270' class cutter. It's a Trumpeter kit, a fairly easy build. As with all kits a little add on work makes it a bit more interesting. My only complaint is that the kit had no windshield wipers, a little strange considering the scale.

I cut one of the engine access doors open, as well as the cabin side and overhead doors. I also opened a side door on the fuselage.

The cabin was detailed close to the prototype's appearence and painted in the current Coast Guard style(the H-65 was originally painted CG  white and red).   The scratchbuilt items include the engine, the door machine gun with stand, wind shield wipers, and the extension of the aircraft's nose.  I believe the kit depicts the HH-65A and my mods are in keeping with the "C" model.

To complete the model, I'll add the rotor tiedowns and the web straps deck tiedowns when the big cutter is complete.
