ive built nine or ten of these and they are by far my favorite helo kit. When i was working on them (2/3 Avn Bn, Giebelstadt  "86-'88) and at that time the cockpit, other than the location of a couple of the radios on the side rack, was pretty accurate. You can enhance the interior with the HSS Rails inside the canopy , and that makes a big difference with 30 minutes of work with strip and wire.  The canopy needs some shimming at the front right corner where it meets the front edge of the fuselage.  its a nice build and goes quick, just put enough weight in the nose to keep the tail up.

If you aren't having fun, you're doing it wrong! Build to please yourself and they will flame you every time!

Youre very welcome Mike Wink

Or if you can get one of the Fujimi Cobras they come with four each of the 19 shot and 7 shot pods. And of course the TOW Cobra's also include the TOW Launchers. So you can mix and match your loads and still have plenty left over. On the Israeli one that I built a awhile back I used two 7 shot pods and the two TOW launchers.

Look on Cobra Company or Werners Wings. Both specialize in Helicopter AM. If anybody is gonna have updates, it will be those guys.

Thanks Stik.Yes Werners Wings has the 7 and 19 shot pods. Cool

Anybody know if there is any update sets for this kit? Heard the Rocket pods are short.

I already ordered the Master Model M197 rotary cannon barrels as mine were bent.Crying

thanks

Just ordered one from Sprue Bros. Should be here by Fri! Wink

Thanks for the info. I was eyeing the Italeri 1/48 Apache Longbow at the local hobby shop in the Chicago area. Looking at the sprues, was not impressed.

So I went with the Revell AH-1F Cobra! Big Smile

I love the Cobra too! In my active duty days I used to see them operating where we were a lot... neat to see them between the trees down the ways a bit on a ridgeline where you are. Now for someone to do a proper 1/48 AH-1G, the original Snake.

Thanks Stik!

I've always been a fixed-wing guy but, to me, those Cobras are just the bee's knees.  In profile view, they remind me of a B-17G that's been flattened.  LOL!

Thanks for the info on the kit!  Now I can't wait to pick one up.  Big Smile

It's a re issue of the Monogram 1980s vintage TOW Cobra. Certainly the best 1/48 Cobra out there among those from R/M, Fujimi, and Italeri. I built mine way back when it was a new kit and my skills then are not what they are now. I cant say how well it fit but I do see some seem areas where I could have done a better job. But it is not one to pass by if you want a 1/48 Snake, like I said, its the best detailed one of those out there.

Revell's AH-1F Cobra
Posted by echolmberg on Thursday, July 12, 2012 10:26 AM

Hi guys!

I haven't built a helicopter since around 1994.  I saw that Revell recently released an AH-1F.  I thought it was pretty snazzy looking and I was just curious if this is a new item or if it's a re-release.  Also, is this a reboxing of another manufacturer's kit?  Has anyone built this one before (if it is a reboxing)?  If so, how well does it go together?

Thanks!

Eric
