British Armed Forces Helicopters.
Posted by Snakecopter on Friday, August 24, 2012 4:46 AM

I would like to say that over a period from roughly 1993 to 2012... i have manage to gather together all the makes of helicopters that us the British Armed Forces, R.A.F, Royal Navy, Army, Royal Marines... have used over the decades and i have made them all to my prefered scale of 1/72nd.

Airfix, Frog, Matchbox, Italeri, Fujimi..infact any company that has been producing them bar that is Hobby Boss as their rendition of the Lynx is not accurate enough all  in 1/72...i even bought a glass cabinet for £40 was £44 originally to house my collection of 50 plus and still growing helicopter collection.

From the Hoverfly right upto the present day of the Apache, i have modelled them all and in varying colour schemes of which they have sported through their careers.

I have also and some would say "a dream of a position" a connection with helicopters as my now departed mother was an inspector at Westland Helicopters...now Agusta Westland, and also i live not to far away from the Royal Navy Air Station Yeovilton or as it's usually put R.N.A.S. Yeovilton...and this is where the ...dream position occurs... my house is on their flight plans,i have a daily air show of helicopters flying over and to the left and right of the house plus also Westland's helicopters that are being tested are flying over as well.

So you see my facination for the Rotor craft....I will put this bit in also...my all time favourite colour scheme of the many colours that the helicopters have had, is the Bosnia troubles scheme of all over Green near an Olive Drab sort of colour and the White stripping our lads put as camouflage..you will see i have used this as my thread picture next to my call sign snakecopter. I affectionally call her stripey...she still sports that colour scheme to this day, and she has flown over my house a manier time. The variant is the Commando Mk 4...which is soon to be retired as the RN will be equipped with the Merlin.

The Crossman clan...that's me, Allison my wife, Kayleigh my daughter, and Damien my son have our favoiurites...they are as follows

Ronald (The Snake) that's me...Sea King.

Allison..Lynx.

Kayleigh..Merlin.

Damien..Chinook.

Do any forum members share a love for the helicopter and which ones like the Crossman clan do.

I would be interested to see.

Our love of the helicopter shows by which ones we like, and should we come into a lot of money (can't help but dream) we would each have the full size versions.
