I wish somebody makes 1:35 for UH-1H.  Built for a friend's 50th birthday at his wife's request as he flew that model for 14 years.  With help from the guys here especially Gino I used Dragon UH-1D Heer purchased via eBay and plenty of aftermarket sets especially one from Cobra Company that Gino mentioned already.  Be prepared to spend $40-$50 more if you want to make it work...

In my humble opinion, the Dragon/Panda kits need a LOT of TLC!  However, they do build up into a reasonable facsimile of a Huey.  There are several issues with the kit as I see it.  First, the details are almost all overscale.  This is probably due to the fact that the kit is a scaled up version of the 1/48 Italeri kit.  The rivets are especially gawdy in my opinion.  The other major issue is that the rotors (except for the HEER boxing), tail rotor, and Instrument panel are for the 212/UH-1N.  However, the rotor is easily fixed as I'm sure Gino can show you and the instrument panel only matters to a rivet counter.  Gino has made some nice builds from the kit though so I say go for it if you get a chance.  By the way, the Dragon boxing has a nice PE set and  Dragons Vietnam helicopter crew sprues included.  Of course the set comes with only one M23 doorgun system like the ones found in most slicks so you'll need to source another if you are building an armed bird.  In any event, good luck and post any pics of your build.

As I am not to familiar with Dragon kits, how are they on quality? Do they need any TLC to build up a nice display or are they decent... I have always been a Tamiya or Academy kit builder with occasional Revell kits thrown in...

Actually, the UH-1D Heer German UH-1D boxing has the correct rotor blades.

Also, the rotors,, both main and tail in all those kits are for the "N" version, not the D or H.

Dragon makes two kits that will build into UH-1Hs in 1/35.  One is boxed as a Vietnam UH-1D  and a German HEER UH-1D SAR model.  Both have all the parts to build an H model, and then some.

The 1/35 long-body Huey kit was originally released by Panda, and reboxed by Dragon with new decals and PE.  They are pretty nice, but can use some updates and TLC to make them look really good. Cobra Company has some great update / correction / detail sets for them.

UH-1D HEER SAR

They also offer a USMC UH-1N

They can be found pretty readily on eBay, but I think they are currently (for now) out of production.
