"Is there reference material that you use to help guide you through the assembly phase? Thanks for the help!"

I find lots of pics on the version I am building.  http://www.primeportal.net/the_airstrip.htm is a great place to start, as is http://www.airliners.net/

Thanks guys and esp you Gino, I'm building the MiniCraft UH-60L medevac in 1/48th and the interior has a bunch of seats, not correct for this version and in fact doesn't really match any version I've found photos of.

Went ahead and contacted Floyd about his resin replacement set, looks much easier than continuing to scratchbuild a halfway decent interior myself.

HeavyArty - Thanks for sharing! Unfortunately I don't have much to do with the assembly right now since I do not have the correct parts. For now I am just planning a layout and taking notes from the posts I read on the forums. I do have many questions but I don't want to get ahead of myself and be overloaded with info haha. Is there reference material that you use to help guide you through the assembly phase? Thanks for the help!

For UH-60s there are a few AM companies that have some good products.

Cobra Company has the most update/correction sets.  I highly recommend their products

www.cobracompany.com

Werner's Wings has a MedEvac conversion and some excellent decals.

www.wernerswings.com

Eduard does a few PE sets for them as well; Interior, Exterior, Instrument Panel, Seat Belts, etc...

As said above, lots can be done to correct and/or update them.   I have built 5 different versions of the 1/35 Academy H-60s; US Army UH-60L and MH-60L DAP, US Army UH-60A MedEvac, USAF HH-60G Pave Hawk, and a USCG MH-60J Jay Hawk

Here are a couple previous posts that have a lot of info on building and updating the Academy H-60s:

Good luck and let us know if you need any help on it.

There are even more makers of aftermarket parts than kit manufacturers. Squadron is a good online source for some. Otherwise, just peruse the forums in here and watch for other builders to mention the brand names of their after market part sources and search the web for those.

Do you know of any reliable sources for after market parts? I know it may be a bit spendy! Unless I was like some others who create their own from resin.

In reply to FlyItLikeYouStoleIt - That's what I was afraid to hear hahaha! From what little reference pictures I have, I noticed the kit isn't 100% accurate. No need to worry, I am in no rush to get this done right.

Oh ummmm .... is there a current Group Build that kimo's Blackhawk would fit into? That would be an EXCELLENT way to get started and learn the most.

Definitely do NOT rush it!

Besides skill and experience, your end results could hinge upon how much you're willing to spend. Alot of the folks in here are sticklers for exact paint color matches from various expensive sources, whereas I am plenty happy using good quality rattle-can spray paints (which often have very close, if not exact, color matches. It's entirely up to you.

Also, you're going to find that various components in some kits, like cockpits or landing gear, aren't quite accurate when the rest of the kit is dead on. Then you face the choice of buying after market replacements to produce the exact match for that vehicle or, modifying the kit parts by adding your own detailing or whatever to get it as close as you can. I find the latter choice more rewarding myself. (This is a little of that "contradictory advice" that stikpusher referred to).

In a nutshell, take as little or as much advice as you want from the various sources and opinions in here and in a short time you'll find that you've got your own style and methods that devolope from within you and what you absorb here.

Hell, even the MOST experienced builders in here have to admit . . . . they learn something new every day.

Take your time, and ask specific questions here. There are lots of knowlegeable helpful folks here who can help you achieve your goal with this kit. You will receive lot of tips and advice, sometimes contradictory. Take what works best for you and move on past the stuff that does not. There is more than one way to skin the proverbial cat.

I am quite new to this awesome hobby though I have built 3 1/35 Blackhawks for practice and familiarity.  I am very excited to start another 1/35 Blackhawk!Big Smile.  Now that I have it in front of me waiting to be assembled, I need help on where to start?!? My goal is to complete this as very "life like" as possible even though I lack the skills and experience.  Can anyone shed some light?  Anything is greatly appreciated!
