Anyone familiar with a MH-60L DAP?
Posted by hello_dolly on Saturday, September 7, 2013 5:08 AM

Good day, I'm still stuck on my progress with my MH-60L DAP (Academy kit). I'm still skeptical about the M134 magazine included in the kit. I looked around the net and haven't seen anything similar like it. And it looks out of scale (Almost reaching touching the ceiling of the helo once placed).

Maybe anyone here can confirm if such type of magazine really exist? Plus, unlike the photos I've seen, Academy's M134 magazine has 4 feeds for feed chutes. It really looks weird. I'm in the middle of placing it as is or modifying it.

Maybe anyone can shed a light on this one. I've already posted this on another forum but I'm still not convinced. below is a photo of the m134 magazine. Sorry for the low quality. Thanks FSM!

The Academy ammo boxes are about 1/8 inch too tall.  If you cut an 1/8" off the bottom, you will be good.

The pieces you have circled in red are the feed motors.  In blue are the feed trays that hold the belts and ensure they do not jam as they exit the boxes.  Academy has you build it wrong though.  The left hand side tray (blue) should be turned 180 degrees so it lines up with the feed motor on the side.  Cut the side piece down the middle, flip sides and turn it around so it lines up.

You can see how I redid them on my MH-60L DAP.

Hope those explain it well enough.

Finally! I really have a strong feeling that there's something wrong with the Ammo box provided by Academy. I'm glad I did not rush on the build.  Thanks a lot. Now I can finally proceed with the build of my DAP. ^_^

Oh, and last thing, how come on some photos, the ammo boxes have only the feed motors (encircled in red on my photo on 1st post)?

Like this photo (grabbed from your gallery link hehe)

From the photo, the feed motors looked like they served as the feed trays as well. So is it really possible to 4 feeds in one ammo box? 2 for each feed motors (encircled in red) and 2 for each feed trays (encircled in blue)? Thanks!

No, it is only one feed per side, ther are actually two boxes next to eachother.  The ammo comes out of the box through the anged feed shoot (red), then through the feed motor (blue) and out the ammo chute to the gun.  Sorry, I switched the circled colors in my above response.
