HH-53c gift
Posted by tetraodon on Monday, December 9, 2013 8:29 AM
so right now I'm building a gift for my father who was in the 37th aerospace rescue and recovery service. the model is mostly built and I'm chosing to do an SAE scheme. the model be mounted on a base I hopefully i will be able to make like the tarmac at da nang Air Force Base. my issue is finding good reference photos for how the runway actually looked, any good reference photos or first hand accounts would be much appreciated. my father never talked about the war very much. he says it was because what they did was beyond top secret and never really record of what happened, nevertheless I hope to make this really good gift for him. I'll post pictures of it when I'm done thanks for all your help!

Did you try Google?

37 ARRSq HH-53s at DaNang AB, RVN, 1970.

That should get you started.

I scanned these out of one of my Time Life books. It originally was a two page photo. The upper photo was the left hand side of the picture.
