New - Black Ops Models 1/35 MH-6M Conversion Review
Posted by HeavyArty on Sunday, December 15, 2013 3:13 AM

I have reviewed the excellent new Black Ops Models MH-6M conversion for the 1/35 Dragon AH-6J kit at Aeroscale.

Here is the link:  http://aeroscale.co.uk/modules.php?op=modload&name=Reviews&file=index&req=showcontent&id=9772

It looks awesome.  You will not be disappointed.

Interesting.  I see it comes with a new tail piece.  I wonder if that'd look odd if I used it to convert my 1/32 Revell Cayuse to an MH-6?

In short, no.  It won't work with the Revell kit for a couple reasons.

One is the Revell kit is 1/32 scale so the parts are too small for the helo.

Second, the Dragon kit has the 6th rotor blade included since you get two identicle sprues for the rotor assembly and each has 3 blades, leaving one as a spare.  Also, the new rotor head is made for how the Dragon kit assembles.  The Revell one is very different in its assembly and parts breakdown.

Your best bet is to find a Dragon 1/35 AH-6J kit.  Next bet is to use any other Dragon H-6 kit based on the 5-bladed MD530 kit.  Only these have the extra rotor blade needed for the conversion.  You would still be missing the black boxes and other bits found in the AH-6J kit though.

Ah.  They all look the same to me so I wouldn't have known.  Didn't even spot the extra rotor blade.  Just a thought though.  The Revell kit is a bit basic and boring imo.

The Revell kit is ancient (or classic, depending on how you look at it).  It was made in the late '60s and shows it.  If you are looking for a good, well detailed H-6, get one of the Dragon ones.  They are really nice and up to date.  Keep the Revell one for nostalgia sake if you want, but it really isn't worth building,  in my opinion.
