UH-1B Gunship

Even though it is not my preferred scale of 1/48, I picked up the Monogram 1/24 Huey Gunship because it looked like fun and something different to do. Here she is OOB finished with brushed Tamiya Acrylics and Testors glosscote. It is also the first time I ever painted and used pilot figures in any of my builds. It was a fun and simple build and is HUGE when completed!:

Nice.  I guess that's an upscaled version for their 1/48 Huey hog.  Or the other way round.  Anyhow yours looks great. Yes

Nice job on a oldie bu goodie!  I've got a couple in my stash.   They would make a good start to convert to a Charlie model gunship.

Thank you Infofrog. The skids are very weak for the weight of the model, so much so as the right rear strut snapped where it attaches to the fuselage just from sitting on my desk. That's why it is sitting on a paint can in the photos and the one showing next to baby huey it is sitting on a clothes pin to keep the weight off the gear. Luckily I was planning on a hanging display so I don't have to worry about the struts sagging and breaking again. If you are planning on displaying yours on its skids I would recommend reinforcing the struts or maybe even fabricate new ones out of metal.

Mel, I lost count around 500+, not to mention another 150 in the stash. I've been collecting (as compared to building/playing with/destroying) since around 1980. Mostly 1/48, with subjects not available in 48 done in 1/72, plus some armor, ships, space and sci-fi. Here is a link to my aircraft collection: smg.photobucket.com/.../Aircraft%20Collection

I haven't completed anything in over 20 years!  I have maybe a dozen completed and a huge stash dating back to mid 60's!   I probably have over 1100 kits in the boxes!   Nut's!!!  However with retirement looming I plan on finishing some 15 to 20 I started on over the years and get back to some serious scratching on plastic!   Probably be going to some Hobby Shows and selling some stuff too!

Very nice job there, bigfoot. (I just love Huey gunships!). I think the only thing I definitely would've done differently would be to have given 'er a final dullcote finish. (looks like you've got a bit of a Boeing fetish going on there too - nice!)
