Top 14 Helicopter Nose Art Units
Posted by namhelo on Friday, February 7, 2014 7:44 PM

I compiled a list of all the photos contained in my three VN War helicopter books and ranked the top 14 units by quantity. The results give a clear indication of those units who liberally practiced a unit tradition of nose art painting. Counting up all the Dustoff/ Medevac photos they had 34 to their credit. The Chinooks had 76 images. Enjoy, John Brennan, 114 AHC, 1970-71:

227 AHB - 47, 121 AHC - 33, 1/9 Cav - 23, 228 ASHB - 21,116 AHC - 17, 229 AHB - 17, C/16+D/1/4 - 15, 114 AHC - 14, 7/1 Cav - 14, 11 ACR - 13, 175 AHC - 13, 187 AHC - 12, 191 AHC - 10, Beer336 AHC - 10

Its just advertising for his books.  If you want to advertise, buy ad space off to the sides.

The last time I posted pics from my books the administrator rejected them saying it was a form of product advertisement.

I wish I had, but no author website as yet. The most I can do is direct you to the Hellgate Press website to view the first 20 pages of my NAMES book (all black-white images). Then to see some colorful photos of helicopter nose art contained in VOL 1 of the Stackpole book please click on the link below to access the Amazon site and the first 43 pages therein. Coming soon in a few days from Amazon as well will be VOL 2's free peek inside also.

For copyright reasons I myself cannot share any of the book photos outside of the books. Inevitably, this walks a fine line between plugging one's books and merely sharing information. Call it what you will yet the fact remains that as an author I'm mud if I do and I'm mud if I don't.
