stikpusher How far off are they dimensionally? Are we talking a mm or two, or some serious size discrepancies?

Serious size/shape/detail issues IMHO. A few mm here and there, even in 1/35 scale, can add up quickly. For example, the engine compartment is 4-5mm too short; that is almost 15% and results in it being more of a square then a rectangle. Some of the issues are discussed here:

Like Ray said above, even the latest "update" has issues. Namely an NTS release that doesn't include the NTS!
thank you
Yep, that's it. Any 1/48 Revell/Monogram AH-1F will be this same kit. As I said before, it's cheap, accurate and readily available. Not many 1/48 kits have those attributes.
Ray
woudls this be the one here

stikpusher If that's the Cobra type that you want, the Monogram kit ( currently released under the Revell label ) is just what you need.

Here is a Heuy my wife took with me
thanks rick
Also is it me . when I want a model .. It cost me .
Or am I in this game at a wrong time and date ?
I want a dragon huey .To exp. and not available. I went with the revell 1/24 . I was really happy with it
Look on Ebay. I just saw a few on there.
In 1/72 there is the very old, but still nice Monogram G. I want to say that Hasegawa & Matchbox also may have done a G as well in braille scale. In 1/48 there is no good G model out there. A late model G can be made by kit bashing using one of each of the Fujimi J & S kits. But the 1/48 G kits out on the market for the past 45 years or so are BAD.
Rick
Well, if you are looking to build the bird in that link, and you want big scale, the only AH-1G in 1/32 is Revell's. You will need Cobra Companies resin cockpit set for sure. They have a great XM-35 Mini Gun set as well, and I highly recommend Fireballmodelworks decals. I do not know who makes a smaller scale AH-1g.

Ask me about Speedway Decals
I'm not as enamored with the 1/35 scale Whiskeys as some. For one thing, they have dimensional issues (too short) and none are correct for the NTS Whiskeys, including the "NTS" kit. I am building one now though so we'll see how it goes.
How about the 1/35 Whiskey Cobras from MRC/Academy. Those are pretty sweet too!
The best larger scale cobra kit OOB is the 1/48 Revell/Monogram AH-1F kit. It's cheap, accurate and readily available.
How about variant? There are G, J, Q, S, T, W, Z, E, & F variants of the AH-1. Not all are available in kits, or all scales.
I have no ideal what size . I only finished one 1/24 scale and working now on 1/35 scale .
rick
What scale and version of the Cobra are you looking for? There are several versions out there.
Is there any recommendation for the cobra helo?
Im looking at one of these for my next build .
