Airfix Kamov Ka 25 Hormone 1/72 Model Kit
Posted by fah air on Thursday, July 24, 2014 7:12 PM

Gentlemen and Ladies,

I need your help finding a set of instructions for the 1983 1/72 Airfix Kamov Ka 25 Hormone Model Kit.

I recently found the kit at a local flea market and couldn't resist getting this unique model helicopter home.

Price was right... one short coming - no instructions! And, there are quite a few little bits that go to putting this model together.

I've been able to locate many photos of the completed model on the internet but there don't seem to be any instructions available there. I've been in contact with Airfix and they say that their files don't go back that far.

So... I need your help. A PDF would be great, a jpeg (jpg) will work as well.

Thanks in advance for your help.

FAH

Hit this site up, some one made one last year and has in progress photos and page 1 of the instructions posted. Perhaps you can contact him and get a copy.

Hello!

I did this machine a long time ago, and then re-did it like five years ago :-)) Here's what it looks like:

Let me tell you, there is only one set of sprues for the Ka-25 in 1:72, so no matter if the kit is from 1983, 1993 like my first one or from 2006 like my second one, the instructions should cover it. So I'd try to contact Airfix once more and don't mention the year - maybe they would have those instructions.

The same set of sprues lets you build one of three versions of the chopper - a sub hunter (depth charges and should have a sonar, the kit doesn't have it, top secret!), a radar picket (with big bulge radar under the nose) and a rescue chopper (with a searchlight).

There are two rotors and the kit has them glued together - that's kinda bad, because they are rotating in opposing directions in real life - so that's worth re-doing IMO.

I could probably find a set of instructions if I dig deep enough in my archives, but that's a lot of work - so please let me know if all else fails :-) Good luck with your build and have a nice day

Paweł,

Nicely done! I can only hope that my model looks half as good as yours.

Do you have a the kits number??? I know that my be a longer stretch that the instruction sheet but, that's what Airfix wants to look up the instruction sheet. Right now I'm trying to get up with a guy in Michigan who posted a his build on an Unofficial Airfix site. I'll let you know how that works out. FYI For years I've been putting all my instruction sheets in a box since I write all kinds of notes on them, just in case I have to go  back to see how I finished some thing.

Thanks again Paweł... I'll be in touch.

FAH, thanks a lot for your kind words. For kit numbers and the likes try a website called scalemates.com - lots of info there. Heres a link that should help you:

Hello again!

As it just happened, I found the instructions - it was easier than I thought. So here they are - they come from a rebox by a Polish company called SK Model - the sprues were the same as in the Airfix, I believe they just added the Yugoslavian markings as an option. Good luck with your model!

Pawel,

Thank you Thank you.

You saved me a bunch of time. I had joined up with another forum searching for a guy in Michigan USA for the plans. That was as close as I had gotten - till now!

I really appreciate you finding and posting the instruction sheet for me.

But, it's going to be a little while before I start the Ka-25. I have 3 kits on the bench right now and 4 in the wings waiting. I do very much, want to add this kit to my helicopter display!!! I have a glass top table in the front room that has 6- 8 built helicopters/auto gyros on display in it and the Hormone will be a perfect fit.

Lets keep in touch!

Rob,

as  you can see Pawel has located a set of instructions and posted them.

I had located the postings and the guy that built the Ka-25 and I joined the forum, which took a little bit of time but, Pawel came to my rescue.

Thanks so much for your help.

I hope in a few months time to have a kit worthy of this forum.

I have built this kit a century ago and it is realistic and detailed .Just the canopy/clear parts are very thick an need to be vac/formed.Also the rotors main housing sits low.Very rare kit.Zeveda/and other russian kit makers have copied this kit
