Need help ... but a psychiatric one!

. I could really use that decal sheet too. As for modeling, I've been doing it since I was 7 and haven't stopped, nor will I. Just in the past year have I decided to start building contest pieces and "going all out" on a model is both challenging and rewarding. There is nothing else like the feeling of looking at a completed model and knowing that's what you can do with the skills you have honed over the course of several years.

It's true that our passion, or generally the passion for something, pushes you to constantly improve yourself.
Personally I like modelling because it involves many aspects and skills: research, building and painting skills, immagination and creativity, only to mention some.

I agree that it is very satisfying when the results of our efforts are appreciated either by ourselfs or even better by other persons.

It's sad but true that only a modeler can understand another modeler. A non modeler can like or dislike the result of our work but he just doesn't know all that's behind this result.

BTW I solved the problem of buying a new printer: at work we have a high defintion inkjet printer and a laser printer so I'll make a few tests on normal paper and then print on the decal sheet.

The short answer to your question is YES!

The stencelling on the 160th birds looks kinda yellowish O/D to me anyway, but not quite as yellow as I've seen with the kit decals.

No, you showed creativity and problem solving skills to an admirable level. When I built my Academy M113 with Toga spaced armor, the only etched version was the ill fitting and nearly useless Verlinden one so I drilled out all the holes on the plastic ones that came with the kit. I had to par-boil the resulting parts to get them flat again.

However, befor you buy a new printer consider saving the decal sheet to disk and having it commercially laser printed to reduce the likelihood of the inks running when you hit them with water. Also, make sure you seal the decals with MicroScale Decal saver or decal film. The hand prints on the horse were done that way.

I don't know what "condition" you may have, but a bunch of us are in the same "boat" as you! When you have a "passion" for something it puts you up on a whole new level. Those that don't have "it" don't understand and never will.

It is always fun to walk through a Model Show, and see the creations people have come up with. If we could talk personally with each of the builders, no doubt we could write a detailed book on some of the off the wall techniques that were used to achieve the results we see before us.

"But it's "ONLY" a model"...... You know, I've heard that many times from those who view Modeling as some juvenile phase all men go through. If this is the case, I'm one of the biggest babies in this forum! For me, it's a matter of personal satisfaction and attention to detail, which translates into a more satisfactory approach to other challenging aspects in my life. A good Positive Attitude is at least 75% of ANY job you're getting ready to do, and pooling your skills & imagination to complete said job, solidifies/justifies this attitude.

It may not be published in any psychological textbook, but "getting it right" works for me, regardless of the methods used.
