Cobra Company does a nice set of M23 Doorguns w/M60Ds.

 I highly recommend them to build a slick.

I hear you, typical guy on the ground thinking, "if a little is good, a lot is better" especially when it comes to fire power.  If it could get off the ground with, it got hung on there.

Hi goldhammer;

I hear your friend, but just about every night hawk bird had M2 and M134 miniguns.  My bird had the light, M2, M134 and free 60s.  Yes we replaced rivets, but so did the mine layers and other birds that had things the imaginative crews had hanging off the hard points.

Going to have to get one, my best friend up in Salem was a crew chief on Huey's back in the 'Nam days.  Has mentioned he might like to have one, but would be one with door .30's.  Would like to do one with a door M2, but he said the one someone tried it on in the day, shook most all the rivets loose in a big hurry.

Yup, I stumbled across this kit on their site a couple weeks ago, in the upcoming releases section. I will get one too, at least for Crandall's markings! Sweet!

NEWS: Revell reissues 1/32 Huey w/something special in the box...

I was in my local hobby shop today getting some paint and supplies.  What did I see on the shelf?  The Revell reissued of their old 1/32 Huey.  Normally I do not buy models there, sorry, but their prices on plastic are ridiculous (Dragon M1A2 SEP v2 - $99.50 - WTF!!).   This one was only $20.99, mislabeled, maybe, maybe not.  The kicker for me was that it has markings for Bruce Crandall's MOH ride, Ancient Serpent 6 in the kit.  They look good and appear to be complete.  I snatched it up. If not for the decals alone.

The boxart is deceiving as it shows a UH-1C Gunship and says it is a UH-1D Huey Gunship (which never existed).  The plastic is the same old Revell kit with all the BS gunship parts and no troop seats, but those are easy to scratch up.  It builds out of the box into a UH-1H, but can easily be backdated to a UH-1D as MAJ Crandall flew.

Here are the decals.  It also has markings for a Canadian SAR bird.

Revell's bogus gunship buildup:

Even though if first came out about 1969, it is still a pretty good kit and can be made into a really nice model with a little work.

Cobra Company and Fireball Modelworks both do a couple resin update sets for it too.
