My Latest Helicopter Build. (pic)
Posted by Duke Maddog on Monday, March 15, 2004 1:09 AM
It has been awhile since I've posted here, and now I was able to get a semi-decent photo of my latest helicopter project.

This is my Ka-52 Hokum. I copied the pattern that is on my Mi-28 Havoc because i felt it looks better than all black. I'll be putting Soviet Red Stars on her too, just because I feel that would make her look meaner. Evil [}:)]

It is glossy because it is a work in progress. The glosscoat is a coat of Future that I put on so I can apply the decals. After that, I'll dullcoat her, install the rotor blades and underwing stores and declare her finished!

Bow [bow]Bow [bow]Great looking Hokum, Duke!!Bow [bow]Bow [bow]

The glossy finish reminds me of a diorama on display down at the Hobbit in Fayetteville, of two Huey's sitting out on the ramp in the rain.

Thanks for the picture!! Smile [:)]

Looking good! Is that a 1/72nd scale kit? Judging by the paint bottles it looks small. I have a 1/48th KA-50 by Italeria somewhere in the pile.

Clear Left!

Thanks Papa Echo! You do great work also!
Yes, I airbrushed the Future. Here's the beauty of it too: No Thinning Necessary!! Shoot it straight through the brush, then to clean up, I run clean water through the brush afterwards. I don't even break it down to clean it, until after about a month's use (I only airbrush Future since I have a small room and no Spray Booth). Then I do break it down to get any residual that may still be inside, but there is usually so little that I don't have much to clean.

Check out Swanny's website: http://swannysmodels.com/ and click on "Tools &Tips" for his article on "The Complete Future". He sums up the great versatility of the product extremely well in that article, which was also in the March issue of Finescale Modeler.

I'm sorry, it is a 1/72 scale Italeri kit. Thanks!

That's cool! I'd love to see it if you can get any photos. Still, even if you can't, That is a neat idea!
