I'll send some along to you tomorrow evening.
The interior color is almost a perfect match for Tamiya IJN Gray, gray with a hint of green.
Early models of the 65 had the entire cabin and cockpit this color. Later to make the cockpit compatable with night vision goggles, the cockpit was done in matt black. Even the seat covers were black, the cabin stayed the gray even though the crew could be on NVG too, never seemed to bother us. . .
Interior wise, the Flight Mechanic sits in a chair much like the pilots/copilots on a track that slides side to side, the Swimmer sits on the deck on an orange cushion.
No kidding.

I know it's only rock and roll, but I like it.

May I assume you mean then window on starboard side of the helicopter? yes it's there but needs to be reshaped, And yes the storage area id missing, it's hard to see in this scale, 1/48th would demand it be added. Many of the proper panel lines need to be added, The crewmen seat has to be made, as do the headrest for Pilot and co-pilots seats. If you want to realy get into it. The intake covers need to be made, the whoe engine-transmission area need to be reshaped, it's not realy bulky enouge, the intake shape is all wrong, the kit is flat, the HH-65 protrudes out more. There are a lot of missing antenas, the search light on the port side. The Hawkeye set has the search light but no clear light light cover. The main gear wheel wells are not deep enough, and the doors are the wrong shape, Door tracks need to be added and the cabin hatch must scribed in or opened. Lets not forget the floats covers and some minor reshaping on the rotor tips. The main rotor hub need some attention, the center beam is thinner profile then the kit piece. Ya it's a lot of work to make this kit accurate, I think the time spent is worth if, after all this is modeling. I spent three weeks on the engine cowlings and transmission covers alone and only recently relised I had the top cover too long. Well I can live with it. Don't be dissaded from this kit, it'll make a nice replica of an HH-65, to what eve level that satisfies YOU. An example.I've built two of these, one the older White and orange, the other, the orange one. Both got new tails, engine-transmission covers and a lot of attention to the interior. Both have little errors but I'm satisfied with them. Model to what ever level you are happy with. and good luck with yours. Let us see it when your done.

2 new things i have noticed about the cabin.
#1-it is missing the "box" like structure just behind the arched support on the inside of the cabin on the left side of the aircraft (where the headsets are hung).
#2-it is missing the storage compartment located at the rear of the cabin (as opposed to the solid one piece they give you. my plan is to cut a hole in this and create a storage compartment.
#3- i thought of another one. is the outline of the window (not cut out but still visible) right behind the crewmans seat, supposed to be there? or should it be filed and filled in?
#4-and again->the seating is completely wrong and i was very disappointed to see 2 3-seat benches rather than 1 crewmans seat and one foldable PJ seat

As it happens I just finished an HH-65A, it posted under My Latest Model (Last Month)
Be sides the aformentioned changes to the tail and the need for a Hoist. Then cowling shape is also wrong as are the exhaust pipes. The underside needs attention, but to just make the kit and have a reasonably accuate model the do the tail and the window and door. If you want a conversion kit go to Hawkeye models, a new owner of the product line show this kit available. Great drawing and some pictures. As to yur original Question, What color is the interior. I used Light Ghost Grey. The stack of pictures I have show this to be close. I forgot to ask the maintance guys what the color was. With some patients and some work, this kit will make into a nice HH-65, your just have to be a model builder and like the subject. Mine was done with no special skills, just an eye, some pictures, a ruler, sand paper and glue... Good Luck to you.

The 366G has 11 blades in the fenestron while the 365N has 13.
In 1/72nd scale I didn't bother to make the change, aside from making the support in the fenestron angled back instead of the "v" shape for the 365 and modifying the tail skid housing.
In 1/48th scale the modifications are much more involved.
I decided to wait for an after market set for the Trumpeter kit.

Besides the window-arrangements and the hoist, the most difficult part in converting the Revell and the Trumpeter kit is the tail: the old SA365N has a significant smaller diameter Fenestron than the newer 365N2/ 3 or the 366 (USCG). That means re-shaping the complete tail, widening the Fenestron and enlarging the fan inside.

1:72 conversion kit (although I don't know its exact contents!):http://www.lhshop.nl/?shopid=LM42a431b7bdc05360f5ba11dc63&action=prodinfo&parent_id=236&art=39520

Good Luck, Gertjan

The Revell kit isn't really nasty Michael,
It is a Aerospatial 365N model with some US Coast Guard decals thrown in.
In 1/72 scale you can go light on the cabin detail, but some stuff has to change so you can have a 366G or USCG HH65A model, first of which is closing up all the aft doors and the aft cabin door on the left side. Then you have to find a hoist for the right side.
Luckily the work required is not as much as making the Trumpeter kit look like an HH65.
I'll send you some photos.

Posted by Anonymous on Tuesday, March 16, 2004 7:54 AM
Hey ho all..

Does anyone have some clear pics of the interiour of a HH-65? A friend of mine has just bought the (nasty) 1:72 Revell kit, and it has zilch interiour, especially in the main cabin.

Thankee all..
