Huey Vietnam Era Interior Grey Colour?
Posted by crossofiron on Thursday, April 28, 2016 4:22 AM

Hi all,

Thinking about the colours for the inside of my 1/24 Huey.

Appreciating the Grey Interior, I don't have the luxury of HobbyMaster paints here in the UK.

My thoughts were to use  Tamiya AS26 Light Ghost Grey or Tamiya AS-2 Light gray matt (IJN)

Would appreciate some advice!

Cheers

Steve

So long ago and so much forgotten. I do not recall the inside color very well but I am leaning closer to that AS-2. I have some slide scans but they do not show much inside aside from an M60 with a Schlitz can spot welded to the side. One I have looking forward toward the back of the pilots seat shows the back of the seat very close to the OD color of the outside.

A number Army Viet Nam scans from hundreds yet to be done:

Have had the great fortune to be on every side of the howitzers.

Any medium grey will do, the color changed due to paint batches, fading, etc.  I usually use a spray can of primer grey from Wal-Mart or the likes for the interior grey color.

Personally I have used Vallejo Model Air 50 Light Grey for my Huey interiors.  Looks ok to me.  According to the ultimate paint conversion chart (http://www.paint4models.com/) it apparently matches Tamiya's XF19 Sky Grey.
