UH-1H Future WIP

Since Revell recently re-released their 1/32 UH-1 kit, or at least I just recently figured it out, I want to build this kit replicating my Dad's chopper from Vietnam. He was in the 195th AHC from 8/69-7/70 and was mainly a Skychief, although he did spend some time early in his tour in the Guns platoon, the Thunderchickens. They had a camo paint job that I will try to replicate and I will post pictures of it as I go. It will probably take some time as I do not get a whole lot of time to work on hobbies, or I have too many hobbies that take up a lot of my time. I will probably have a lot of questions as I go, as I have not built models in many, many years. I look forward to interacting with everyone and thank you all in advance for any advice and constructive criticism you may have for me!

Can't help you with the paint scheme but will be interested in your build. I was there (army) during about that same time period but honestly can't recall ever seeing a camoed helicopter of any species. Ours had a huge red number on the front end for 'advertising' purposes.

Sweet...I dig some camo Hueys!

My Dad was a Huey pilot. I built him one from his first Cav Unit "Blackhawks"...based at Ft. Knox, back in the mid-late 70's. I used the same kit you are planning on. It's been a long time, but I don't recall much in the way of trouble spots with the build. That one is long since gone. I did another one for him, using ...???...Dragons kit.

The model is of this one...depicted before the engine failure!

He managed to bring her down in the only clearing for miles...took a bounce, spun and the tail caught the corner of a government truck...what are the odds?!!!

Close call...quite a drop off there!

So, trying to figure out how to work this forum, and add some pictures as I go. If I am successfull, here are some pics of the actual helicopter I want to model. These show the spraying rig for Agent Orange, and I will not be including that. But I do want to "dirty" it up like in the pictures. Dad was telling me that about 2 months after he made AC, they repainted his helicopter and that actually made him sad, in that he took pride in having the "workhorse" of the platoon. Sad may not be the best description, but I think you all will understand what I am saying.

You are close on your photo posting. You need to copy the "Direct" link from Photobucket and paste it into the "Source" box on the Edit Image tab (square with a mountain and moon on the tool bar when writing your post).
