My second helo - another cobra
Posted by Lich King on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 11:09 PM

Hey guys,

I'm back again. Here's another work of mine, An Ah1-f Cobra attack helicopter. This came from hobby boss in 1/72 scale.

I had built one before and I had  much fun that I built another. This time, in a different color scheme.

The parts fit well and details are not lacking. Worth for it's price here (about $10.00).

I hand painted this using tamiya acrylics, tamiya panel wash, floor wax and tamiya weathering master.

pls be patient with my work as I am just new in this hobby,

I'm very open for any recommendations or comments and suggestions about my work,

Hoping to hear from you guys,

Best Regards,

Overall you're off to a good start. Your basic build techniques are solid. Aside from color selections, your painting is off to a good start as well. One area on that I think you can address on your next build is the canopy framing-they appear a bit translucent. You can eliminate this by fist painting the framework black, or whatever the interior color of the cockpit should be. Then paint your exterior color over that to match the rest of the airframe.

Im looking forward to your next Cobra. Wink

Looks good and you have some good techniques.  Like Stik said though, your color and markings are off.  The US Marines never used the AH-1S, so those markings and the grey color is incorrect.  It should be a US Army helo in green, or if another country, whatever color theirs were/are.  There were/are many foreign users of the AH-1S Cobra.

"Wild Thing" was actually a US Army AH-1F in desert camo during Operation Desert Storm, '90-'91.  Also note that the colors of the M200 rocket pods and TOW launcher mounts are the same as the rest of the fuselage.
