Hey FSM rotor-heads,

Here's my Monogram 1/48 AH-1F built as an Operation Desert Storm bird.  The build is mostly OOB.  It had been dying a slow death on the Shelf of Doom until the SoD GB gave me the motivation to finish this project.  The only parts that weren't in the box are the (awesome) Werner's Wings TOW racks and rocket pods, the serial on the tail and the airframe number on the doghouse (which were cobbled together from spares in the bin), some scratched sensors, and the scratched landing light.  Oh, and the rotor tie-down that's made from paper and shaped wire.  It's painted with MM enamels and weathered with pastels and Flory's washes.  Considering this is only my second helo build, I'm pretty happy with the results.

Let's take a look at the photos. OK?

Omar, you knocked out another wonderful one.  The detail on the weathering is fantastic.  Thanks for sharing.

(By the way, I fixed the low-hanging rocket pod after the photos were taken.)

this looks great, at this time I am making my first helo, Hasegawa AH-64A should be a challenge, but it will be fine

After building 4 P-47s straight, I was happy to switch gears and do something different.  Of course, feel free to share your thoughts.  Thanks for looking!

Cheers!

Beautiful build on this Cobra! I really like the rotor tie down line as a great visual touch of bright color.

Beautiful build. You really nailed the wear and scuffs on the skids too. Some flying machines are destined to be classics and this bada$$ serpent will always be in my mind.

O,

Stellar build and paint! Love the way you modeled the corrosion to the leading edge of the rotor blades, weathering and tonal effects. This was my first Cobra kit back in the day.

Looks like it's ready to fly over the berm and roll in hot!

It looks great.  Nice job.  Floyd's accessories and such are great products.  I can't recommend them enough.
