Mil 24D Hind helicopter crew uniform colors
Posted by DantheMan85 on Thursday, April 27, 2017 4:18 PM

Hello there, I'm building my first helicopter, the Revell 1/48 Mil 24D Hind. My question is what are the colors for the two crew member's uniform. I've tried to do a search on the internet but came up empty. The kit itself is pretty simple. Smile

That depends upon the country and timeframe. Are you doing Soviet/Warsaw Pact? Middle East/Arab, Sandinista, Cuban, post Cold War?

F is for FIRE, That burns down the whole town!

U is for URANIUM... BOMBS!

N is for NO SURVIVORS...

Hello!

Here's how the Polish helicopter pilots looked in the end of the 20th/beginnig of the 21st century:

The flight helmets had white, orange or olive green shells.

I hope that helps you - good luck with your build and have a nice day

Thanks Stikpush & Pawel. I'm going with the Mil 24D Hind from the Polish Air Force, the revell instructions does not give a date. The other markings included are for Cottbus Air Base, East Germany 1985.

Hello!

In that case I can help you some more with it! I have re-built a model like that recently:

1:72 Italeri Mi-24D Hind by Pawel

More on it here:

http://cs.finescale.com/fsm/modeling_subjects/f/2/p/174178/1938219.aspx

Well, those Hinds were delivered to Poland somwhere in the late seventies/early eighties, in three colour camouflage and they basically kept that camouflage into the 21th century, when they were reapinted solid green for missions in Iraq and Afghanistan. One thing to look for is the tail rotor warning text. Initially it read "опасно" - which is "Dangerous" in Russian. They flew like that for years, and then during major overhauls this insription was repainted to read "niebezpiecznie" - which also means "dangerous" but in Polish. That's why we know your paint scheme is a bit later - say 1990's - and so the photo of the pilots I posted earlier would fit just perfectly. Hope it helps - good luck with your build and have a nice day
