Looking good so far. Your color schemes are not custom at all. The red seat cusions were common on early UH-1B/C models, especially with the full color stenciling. One issue with the kit though, it has fuel fillers on both sides of the fuselage. There should only be one. The right side for a C model and left for a B model. There are some other type specific parts that the model is confused on, but it is closer to a C model.

Saffer, wow, you are doing a super job on the Huey! The detail is great!!
Please note custom colour schemes and parts added to my own liking not to achieve 100% realism.

Hey, SafferScale! Great job for your first kit! And scratch-building parts, too! Much braver than I am. Good Luck!

On The Bench: Tamiya 1/32nd Mitsubishi A6M5 Model 52 Zeke For Japanese Group Build
Build one at a time? Hah! That'll be the day!!
got this project on hold for a little while to practice a bit by building a 1:72 diorama.
Heres my progress so far.

mustangbob51 im very excited about this build. i've been slowly working on this kit for a few months (i've had the kit in the stash for 30 years). i'm excited to see where you go with upgrades to make this a real show stopper. keep up the good work.

Thx still have a few things I'm playing around with, real canvas for the seats, intercom system fabrication and real wiring on the engine. This being my first scale model I have a lot to learn still and the process will be slow.
thx for the compliment......was my first few tries and I"m pretty stoked with the outcome......next thing to worry about....learning to paint....haha
Excellent scratch work!
This is a real nice kit, big and easy to super detail. I built one as a comission a while back and have no complaints about the fit.
Too many models to build, not enough time in a lifetime!!
I reworked the ammo case shell today...looks cleaner now.
I also added the rear bar for the passenger seat, had to add a support for the rear pipe to strengthen it
some pics...
here is the shell ammo box idea I tried......made a few calculation errors here and there and have a few gaps so thinking whole redo
started on the piping for the seats
after a bit of sanding this is how the shell came out.....I must say I did not think Tamiya's extra fine cement is THIS tough......I sanded and handled my little project and its solid
PS....My donor plastic used to be a plastic ruler.....lol
Thx for the advice....I dont really like the tapered form of the one they have on the kit....also being new to glueing stuff together this gives me a chance to practice lol.I googled around for pics of the interior and the seat as in your pic doesnt have "curtains" as in the model but canvas backed seats which I want to try and replicate.
Not sure why you want to cover the ammo box. It is one of the more accurate aspects of the kit.
The interior on the kit is actually not that bad.
I took a look at the OOB ammobox and kinda thought it might be a risk cutting it off....so I am thinking about covering it with a "shell" which would make up a new ammo box that I can customise to my own liking.
i made a VERY rough ABS plastic construction at the same time practicing my newly found glueing skills(lol). The real shell I will make from proper styrene later.
Ok so here goes my Virgin project.I've always been a huge fan of the Huey choppers even though I only saw them in my country growing up on TV(Tour of Duty)
So inspired by infofrog's thread on this forum I went looking for a Huey kit.....and I found the exact same one....Revell's 1:24 UH-1 "Huey".
First thing when opening the box.....the seats and ammo box needs to go!.....so I will hone my skills first by trying to scratchbuild more realistic parts
Any and all advice is very much appreciated....especially from guys who actually flew these awesome machines!
