Hi friends this is my WIP of the Italeri 1/48 UH-1D With Fireball ASE and lot of scratch

as all my hueys they are never clean and shine like toys, this one will be a dirty work horse representing on display at an airshow or something like that...

Now that is some exelent scratchbuilding, the kitchen towl for the quilted lining wrks briliantly.

Also the weathering on the tail rotor looks perfect, it is not a chipping with sharply defined edhes  but like what you did there a softer "sandblasted" look, well done :-)

 

Just as a matter of interest, I am not sure if the FAS does the same, the main rotor hub mounds and pitch links to the swash plate usually have color coded markings on them to show witch link goes to witch blade and the same for blade to rotor grip. It is usuallt no more than a red and blue band painted on them of about 1" (25mm) wide

I am interested to hear how you got that nice scale weathering on the tail rotor leading edges. Looks very convincing

first, I painted the base color (Olive drab) then I paint on white, and with a sand stick I did the weathering
