I'd be hard pressed to buy another Kitty Hawk kit, not unless they reduce their prices by 20% anyway. I bought both the Venom and Viper kits after reading that Kitty Hawk had supposedly gotten their act together. From what I've seen though, that's not the case.
The Venom's fit was lousy in a few areas. The Viper's fit was better but they still had problems in areas that they shouldn't. Like locating holes and slots being so big as to be useless. I had some parts where you could still see 1/4 of the hole after the part was in place. It's an easy fix, but damn, this was a $60 kit and you just shouldn't have to deal with this kind of mfg. screw-ups. The equipment in the compartments under the cockpit is so large that the doors don't fit. Again, an easy fix but, you get the idea.
I'm almost finished the Venom. It's just waiting for paint. Once the Viper is ready, I'll paint both and see what I have. I think they'll both turn out pretty good, they'll just take a lot more work than I first thought they would. I normally build armor and got these kits because I had lapsed into a rut and wanted to try something different. I'm ready to get back into a marathon track building session now.
