Thanks for the replys, gentlemen.  Good to have some confirmation.

Further research, and the purchase of a copy of TM 55-1520-209-10 helped clear up that on the CH-47A the forward opening of the two on the right rear is indeed the utility hydraulic cooler intake. The very aft one is... the apu  intake.

The CB panels are vertical, thanks both of you.

And the upper cooling vents for the engines are wrong on all the kits out there.

Now to find a clear picture of the EARLY aft transmission drip tray, with a ramp light and TWO recesses, as opposed to the one recess currently installed.

Again, thanks for the help.

Being an old Chinook pilot, the circut breaker panel on the bulkhead was flat not slanted.

Don't remember any vents on the right rear. If your talking about the vents on the aft pylon, they were for the transmission. two on each side of the clam shell doors. Hope this helps.

1... I believe you may be refering to the Utility Hydraulic Oil cooler vents (just above the ramp?) which was present on As, Bs, and Cs. On Ds the holes were covered up and I don't think they exist on the Fs.

2...I will double check on the CB panels, but I don't recall them being slanted on the aircraft I worked on.

3... I will say that the vents on the upper engine cowlings on the Italeri kits are bogus (in both 1/72nd and 1/48th)...I will have to drag the kits ot and look at them to jog my memory. If I ma not mistaken they are in the wrong place.

Most people wont notice so it isn't a huge deal.

I will have to take a look at some photos to make sure my memory hasn't failed me.

CH-47A Questions...

Couple quick questions about the CH-47A:

1) What are the two vents on the very rear of the right fuselage for?

2) Are the circuit breaker/power distribution panels behind the pilots seats truly vertical as in the Trumpy kits, or slanted as in the Italeri? Pictures or illustrations would be a big help.

3) Any good pictures or illustrations or dimensions of the upper engine cowl cooling vents for the 'A'? There appear to be only four, arranged in a square pattern, and unique to the 'A'.

Many thanks for any help.....
