INQUIRY: Any Model Kits of Those Helicopters?
Posted by Hirnsausen on Monday, February 11, 2019 9:16 PM

Hi, I am on the hunt for plastic model kits in the usuals 1/72 scale of the following helicopters:

- Kamov KA-90 (Russia)
- Kamov KA-92 (Russia)
- Denel AH-2 Rooivalk (South Africa)
- ATE Mi-24 Super Hind (South Africa)
- Bell V 280 Valor (USA)
- Sikorsky
S-97 Raider (USA)
- AVX Helicopter (USA)
- Sikorsky-Boing FVL-M  / SB>1 Defiant (USA)
- Airbus Clean Sky 2 Racer (Europe)
- Eurocopter X³ (Europe)

Does anyone have any model kit information?

Please bookmark this site, Scale Mates, they have a very good database of available models. Type the subject into the search field and if there is a kit available, it will show up.

https://www.scalemates.com/

Scale Mates is a great place to manage your kit inventory. Just start a username and then add a kit you have with a simple click of the button.

But not found there yet, either.

Hi,

Scalemates is a great site to check, though sometimes they don't list everything.  Especially some resin and/or Eastern European stuff.  As such, it never hurts to also ask if anyone knows of kits of any specific topic as well Big Smile

If it’s not listed on Scalemates, it’s highly probable that those kits don’t exist. They have a very comprehensive database, and members can update it at anytime. It does not require the admin folks there to find and add stuff.

"plastic" and "1/72" place severe limitations on your choices.

Modeling is an excuse to buy books.

They are all concept, experimental, demonstrator, or prototype only with the exception of South Africa's Denel AH-2 Rooivalk attack helicopter.

For that - Scaleworx 1/72 Denel AH-2A Rooivalk attack helicopter

I think the days of companies taking on non-production models in their lines has long since been a rarity. Things just arent the way they once were with lines like Hobbytime releasing prototypes like the Bell XV-3 Convertiplane as a model kit.

I know I could make it happen easily but time is money.

Hi,

For what its worth, Wikipedia shows several different marks of the Super Hind (from Mk II to a prototype Mk V).  It appears that Hasegawa makes a 1/72 scale Mk III variant in Bulgarian markings.

Yes, the Mil Hind is a very amazing helicopter, I like its design. In fact, it's a part of a near-future desert scene that I am building as a table-integrated diorama (glass table) in 1/72 scale.

Hi

I know there is a resin 1/72 Denel Rooivalk available - just can't remember who makes it. I had one in my hands and couldn't afford it at the time - priced in euro's and was a fortune converted to South African Rands.

If you get your hands on the kit, let me know. I have many photographs of the Rooivalk that I took at a festival a few years back, that i'll happily pass on. I took them in anticipation of buying the kit someday, so close-ups of landing gear etc. The pilots wouldn't let me in the cockpit though Stick out tongue.

Scaleworx makes the Rooivalk in 1/72 resin.

Thanks! If only it would be regular plastic, and many parts to paint and assemble. Resin alsways has too few parts, and is too expensive. Hoping and waiting for a plastic version.

Maybe you could get a custom-made model...

I haven’t gotten one yet; and it might be pricey;

but...if it’s something you’re really wanting...
