I used model master enamal. I don't want to paint over it cause it's already on thick.
Bell205 Crap, and I already painted the top of the blades the 36495. Is there something I can use to get the paint off that won't damage the plastic? I'm a complete rookie. I build actual helicopters but the scale models are kicking my butt. Lol.

Lol! Hence the forum handle, eh? You can paint over the 36495, or strip it off and paint on the darker gray. What type of paint did you use? Some acrylics can be stripped by soaking in ammonia cleaners such as windex.
Testors makes a product called Easy Lift Off, ELO, for paint and decal removal. It works well. I’ve used it several times. It’s not so harsh on the plastic like some things that people reccomend such as brake fluid or easy off can be.
Bell205 That link helped a lot. I guess I bought FS36495 and its supposed to be FS36375. I'll go search for the right color. Thanks!!

Oh no, 36495 is much lighter than 36375. 36495 was the bottom color on early TPS aircraft and 36375 the upper color. But at that time, Marine Helos were in the three color Temperate Land Scheme.
The lighter gray of the Cobra’s TPS is indeed Light Ghost Gray, FS#36375. I would not suggest using a different color, but perhaps another brand’s take on that color may be more to your liking. Not all paint brands make their FS colors alike. On a side note, if you use washes for weathering, it will likely darken up the base color.
Light Ghost is one of the colors. See this page on cybermodeler that details it. HTH

I'm building the Academy AH-1Z and I wanted to finish with a paint that is as close to the USMC grey that I can get. I tried light ghost grey but it seems way too white. Any suggestions on what paint color I should use?
