Italeri 1/48 CH47 Chinook...fit problem
Posted by Papa-Echo-64 on Wednesday, April 15, 2020 4:52 PM

I was doing a dry fit on the 2 main fuselage halves on my 1/48 Chinook and ran into an issue.

The two pylon areas went together very well and even but the top area along the middle had a gap its like the plastic had a slight warp and it took quite a bit of force to close it ...way too much force to have it hold together with glue at the seam later in the final assembly.

Do you have this kit or have you built one? I'm hoping it's not common to all of them.

I just sent it back to Hobbylink USA for a replacement.

Fingers crossed.

I have three, two of the ACH-47, and the HC.2. Both have the warp you describe.

Hoping the hot water immersion will work when I get to them.

Thanks for checking BenHet.

Dang!

Could you imagine that after all the painting, detailing only to get to that part only to find it won't go together.....I would be so livid.

If my new kit shows the same issue I dont know what to do ...I studied it and dont think hot water or a heat gun can solve this issue...but it won't hurt to try.

I guess I could use all the detail kits I bought for it super detailing scratch builds.

I just tried fitting the fuselage halves together with bottom piece taped securely in place.

The fit is much better, the gap is reduced to what I think is a managable level.. if you didn't try this before, try it and let me know what you think.
