Yes MJ, that link is for the official TPS scheme for Cobras that came out after Desert Storm. The USMC Cobras all deployed to the Gulf in the Temperate Land Scheme of Green, Gray, and Black. They received more suitable improvised schemes while on ship enroute or once in theater.

Thos was the standard scheme worn by all USMC Cobras in 1990 when Iraq invaded Kuwait.

Check Cybermodeler with questions like this. Some aircraft have actual T.O.s covering painting there.

Don't know.  My malware program blocked it and warned of proceeding further.  I listen to the program.  I had my computer hacked a few years ago  and got this program to remove anything they left behind and prevent future troubles.  Been working great.

Lee, I’ve been visiting that linked site for years with no ill effects. But who knows what those tech guys are doing...

Malwarebytes says your links 1,2,3, were blocked due to trojans. Same for yours stickpusher.

I'd go with light and dark compass/ghost gray, unless you know for sure that they used the blue gray color as a substitute.

Try looking here for more info. For grays, they would likely use what is available in the supply system, the same paints as used on the fixed wing aircraft for the TPS schemes in use at that time. Patterns and markings looked to vary even within the same Squadron.

Need color help for gray camo AH-1Js during ODS
Posted by oortiz10 on Saturday, December 26, 2020 10:42 PM

Hey gang,

I'm wondering if anyone has any info on grey camo AH-1Js from HMA-773 and 775 during ODS. Specifically, I'm looking for info on colors, camo patterns and markings.

From the pictures I've found (like these: 1, 2, & 3 and the ones in this awesome gallery) it looks like there may be 3 different shades of gray in the camo, plus another for the markings. Also, it doesn't appear that all the markings were "standardized", that's to say that it seems that markings differed from airframe to airframe. Also, it appears from pictures that some aircraft had black only or black and OD rotor systems.

If you can help me, I'd appreciate any info you can give me. I'd love to model a Gulf War AH-1J, but I'm having trouble getting the details nailed down.

Thanks in advance,

-O
