I had the idea for this one a year or two ago, and began with the Revell 1/48th scale Hind. After mant starts and stops, I've finally got the kit completed; but not without its trials tribulations, lost parts, damaged canopies...
I ended up getting a vacuformed canopy for the Zvezda (?) kit, because I damaged the original, then I hamaged the vacuformed one cutting the pilot's access out, as I wanted to pose it open.
My vision for this one was one taken right out of an 80's action movie...you know the type, where the Russians are the bad guys, and everything is painted black to show that they are sinister, with nefarious plans. Getting some variation within the different panels was difficult, even using multiple different shades of black. I ended up weathering each panel individually using the oil dot method, with a follow up of Grey Tamiya panel line wash in places.
Enjoy the photos, feedback is welcome! and if ou are on facebook, check out my modeling page 'Ryan's Random Modelwerks', I'd love to have ya...
Stay tuned for final pics, once I am finished painting the pilot figure...
"...failure to do anything because someone else can do better makes us rather dull and lazy..."
Mortal as I am,I know that I am born for a day. But when I follow at my pleasure the serried multitude of the stars in their circular course, my feet no longer touch the Earth...
