On the bench 1/24 huey PICS.

I started this one a few years back.....I know....GET TO WORK!
It helps to have some parked a few miles away.

The floor is thin alum sheet imbossed with the typical huey floor texture in sections w/ the cargo hooks made from wire looped around a small rod...... after I paint it you can see where it will be easy to get that worn look by just some buffing! Big Smile [:D]

Nice work! Is this a kit bash or are you scratch building the whole bird?
Dave

PS. I'm not going to give you any heat about getting to work. I have no room to talk. Smile [:)]

Hey dave!

Kit bash/scratch build kinda thing.

It's aken two kits so far:

One was the SWISS rescue version from Revell of Geramany ( in white plastic ) and the other was the Tour of Duty version from the late 80's. like the RAMBO version but with better decals!...though I might use the decals from the newer Monogram release...better known outfit.

I sawed the front doors off the swiss and will have them in the open position on the final. I have not decided if I should go all the way with the open engine panels or not....that would mean having a "Pocher" of Huey kits at that rate.

Hmmmmmm......Tongue [:P]

OUTSTANDING! Makes me wanna scratchbuild sumthin'...

I've got a question for 'ya. The circular recesses on the floor, are those tie-down points or access fastener-type thingies? Tongue [:P]

Just curious, I know I've seen them close up, but I can't remember what they looked like or what they were for.

Fade to Black...

The seat cushions were made from super sculply before I found out about MAGIC SCULPT! the seats are just stock styrene with odd parts and alum rods. ( and NO the seat belt actuators do not work )Tongue [:P] but the seats will rest on tracks on the floor ( that will not slide) Tongue [:P]

The Consols are sheet styrene that I first used a panel line scriber to spereate the different control sections then I drilled them out for wires and what not for the toggles and stuff.......not 100% accurate but good enough.

Ever since I saw the news footage of Nam when I was VERY young I LOVED Huey's!

oh yeah.....

The floor is not trimed yet so it will glue to the body door edges nice and neet like.

PE64,
Beautiful work.... you just can't rush perfection. Thanks for the photos. Maybe one day we'll all get a high quality 35th scale long-cabin bird.

I also love the "huey" and really appreciate your detail. This one screams to be finished - can't wait to see the end product.

Jeeeze... those pics are an inspiration. Now I'll have to finish that SOTB 1:24 Huey that I started on a few years back (!).

If I ever get around to finishing it, then perhaps I'll consider doing a detailed version. Those seats sure look good!

This thing's cool, but you guys haven't seen anything until you get a look at Papa-Echo-64's 1/32 Huey! That thing is insane. Of course, if he ever finishes this one with the stainless steel firewalls and all, this will be his best yet.

FITTER has been draging that out of the closet for years every time I visit. Only he dusted it before he took this picture! Trust me, none of will live long enough to see it finished! Just like several of my projects......Brings up a good thread subject: "The project I have worked on for the longest time, have never finished and HONESTLY think I will finish one day...."

Ummm... 1:48 CH-53; just one MORE project I'll never finish, right?

Maybe Rick is right... we need to start a thread along these lines. Maybe I'll start it myself. (Look behind the Huey... you'll see a 1:32 UH-1D in a baggie that falls into that category)
